28.08.08 Calgary, Alberta, Canada - Carmen Creek Gourmet Meats, a Calgary based gourmet meats company, has earned the RBC Small Business of the Year Award as part of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce 2008 Small Business Week.
The award recognizes Calgary based small companies (less than 100 employees) who have demonstrated:
• Significant business achievement within the last three years
• Sustained financial performance
• Solid participation in community activities, business and professional associations
• Excellence in service levels (as recognized by training and/or specific service programs)

Carmen Creek produces and markets naturally raised, additive free, Canadian bison which is processed in HACCP approved facilities. Producers adhere to tight production and feeding protocols including annual third party environmental and animal health audits. Carmen Creek products are Health Check certified and listed with the leading retail and foodservice distributors in North America and Europe.
Carmen Creek is also one of three finalists in the 2008 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. The winner will be announced later this fall.
